What this page is for
Add the places your guests care about. Each listing page then shows how far it is from them, and guests can search for stays near a place, within a distance.
The booking website also gets a map of the search results with the price on each pin, a Search this area button, and a location map on each listing.
Who can use it
Manage map places is needed (by default Admin and Sales). The module is part of the Booking website package.
How to add a place
- Enter a name and choose the type.
- Enter its latitude and longitude. On most online maps, right-click the spot to copy them.
- Optionally link it to a destination, then select Add a place.
Fields and columns
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name | Shown to guests, for example "Gatwick Airport". |
| Type | Airport, Beach, Town centre, Station, Attraction or Other. Sets the icon. |
| Latitude, Longitude | The position, in decimal degrees. |
| Destination | Optional link to one of your destinations. |
Statuses and automation
- Listings appear on maps only when they have a latitude and longitude (on the listing page in the admin).
- Distances are straight-line distances.
- Before booking, guests see an area of about a kilometre instead of the exact spot, unless you change the setting.
Settings that change this page
Settings, Booking website (maps): map tiles address, map credit, and Show the exact location before booking.
FAQs
Do I need a Google key? No. Maps use OpenStreetMap by default. For busy sites, use your own tile server or a tile provider and enter its address in the settings.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| A listing is not on the map | Add its latitude and longitude on the listing page. |
